World Population Stabilization Fortnight 2021- Family Planning Awareness Programme for Post Graduates and Interns

The department of Ob-Gy, NKPSIMS & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur, organised a World population stabilization fortnight 2021 Family planning awareness programme for post graduates and interns” on 13th July 2021 at Inspire hall of NKPSIMS & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur.

The world population is growing exponentially & India has reached 1.35 billion as in July 2019. To control this growth in population is the need of the hour. In accordance with this need, the Department of Ob-Gy, NKPSIMS & Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur, decided to take a small effort to create awareness regarding family planning services and newer contraceptives amongst the post graduates and interns as these are the first point of contacts for patients. 

The session on introduction and assessment of the couple for contraception was taken by Dr. Varsha Kose and cafeteria approach with contraceptive counselling was discussed in detail.

Session on various available methods of contraception was discussed with advantages, disadvantages and MEC criteria of contraceptive were discussed in detail by Dr. Rohini Bhoyar. Emergency contraception and newer contraception available and are under trial was discussed in detail by Dr. Sanyukta Dawle. Dr. Amrita Singh was the Master of Ceremony And vote of thanks was presented by her. To maintain social distancing in this Covid era only 38 participants could be enrolled for this programme. The earnest and energetic participation by post graduate students and interns lined upto the mission of “Awareness programme”. Such small efforts in creating family planning awareness can be a big step towards world population stabilization.

Under the able guidance of Dr. Varsha Kose (Associate Professor, Dept. of Ob-Gy), the programme was well co-ordinated by Dr. Amrita Singh, Dr. Rohini Bhoyar and Dr. Sanyukta Dawle.
