NKP Salve institute of Medical Sciences is celebrating a decade of the Mentorship program ANUBANDH in the year 2021 under the able leadership of Dean Dr. Kajal Mitra. Medical education technology unit of NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences organized a guest lecture on “Dimensions and scope of mentoring at NKP” on google meet platform. Dr. Chetna K. Desai, FAIMER fellow, Prof and HOD Dept of pharmacology, BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad, was the faculty for the guest lecture. This was organized to motivate UG mentors of NKP SIMS to implement mentorship program in a more robust way. Dr. Chetna K Desai beautifully navigated the participants from history of mentorship to the present status and need of mentoring in medical colleges. She involved all participants and took their reflections by giving interactive exercises. She demonstrated how an effective mentorship program can run through different stages and how it can be implemented effectively in different formats. She successfully convinced all mentors that though mentorship is meant to help the mentee to give their best, it helps mentors to grow in their personality.
Total 48 medical faculties from NKP SIMS & other Medical Institutes joined the session. We got good feedback from all participants. The event was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Smita Pakhmode, UG Anubandh coordinator, under the guidance of Dr. Suresh Chari. Director of MET & Research and Dr. Madhur Gupta and Dr. Anne Wilkinson, Secretaries MEU.
