Awareness Drive on Cervical Cancer Vaccination
3rd and 8th February 2025
Internal Quality Assurance Cell organised an awareness drive on cervical cancer in collaboration with Swasthya Vriksha Foundation for first MBBS students on 3rd February 2025. Dr. Mohana Majumdar, Director, IQAC, welcomed the gathering and briefed about the cervical cancer and HPV. Dr. Jasmeet Chandok, Founder Secretary, Swasthya Vriksha Foundation discussed cervical cancer’s causes, symptoms, risk factors, and preventive measures of cervical cancer, stressing the importance of early detection through Pap smear and the prevention by HPV vaccine. He highlighted global and regional statistics, urging to increase awareness, particularly among young women.
The session also included registration for vaccination of eligible students. The awareness session was followed by HPV vaccination on 8th February 2025. After obtaining informed consent, total 84 first year female MBBS students aged below 20 years received the vaccine. The Team Swasthya Vriksha Foundation was felicitated by Dr Kajal Mitra, Director, Academics and Accreditation. The vote of thanks was propsed by Dr. Arti Kasulkar, Member Secretary, IQAC.
