POINT OF CARE ULTRASOUND (POCUS) – Masterclass and Workshop on Sunday, 9th April 2023

 Department of Anesthesiology. NKPSIMS & RC and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital in association with Indian Society of Anesthesiologists, Nagpur city branch (ISA-NCB) had organized POINT OF CARE ULTRASOUND (POCUS) – Masterclass and Workshop on Sunday, 9th April 2023.

The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ Dean NKPSIMS Dr. Kajal Mitra in presence of Dr. Mohana Majumdar (Director, General Administration) and Dr. Madhur Gupta (Director, MET cell), Dr. Amit Dixit (Team Lead), Dr. Vinayak Desurkar, Dr. Rashmi Shingade (Hon’ President ISANCB) and Dr. Devyani Thakur (Hon’ Secretary ISANCB). Our Hon’ Dean Dr. Kajal Mitra sir  addressed the gathering and highlighted on the importance of learning the basics of Ultrasound and utilization of POCUS as goal directed bedside tool to improve patient care on daily basis in Operation theatre and critical care settings.

Dr Amit Dixit, Dr Vinayak Desurkar, Dr Harshal Wagh, Dr Deepak Borde, Dr Pradeep D’costa, Dr Roma Saraf, Dr Sachin Arbhi, Dr Upendra Kapse, Dr Rajendra Pandhare had conducted various interactive sessions and demonstrated head to toe application of POCUS for delivering effective patient care during masterclass session in Inspire hall.

Hands on Training workshop was held in afternoon session in Clinical Skill lab showing application of POCUS on various case scenarios. Total 70 delegates attended the Masterclass and Workshop.

Our esteemed faculties enlightened us, on use of POCUS by anesthesiologists for the assessment of multiple organs in different perioperative situations, for improved patient outcome.

The program was organized under the leadership of Dr Anjali Bhure, Prof & HOD, Dept of Anesthesiology. Dr Heena Pahuja was the coordinator and Dr Neharika Barik & Dr Ajeet Jyotipurar had conducted the programme very efficiently. Whole department of Anesthesiology NKPSIMS & Lata Mangeshkar hospital had worked very hard to make this program successful.
