LIVE WORKSHOP ON SEGMENTAL SPINAL ANAESTHESIA

Department of Anaesthesiology, NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, Nagpur in association with ISA NCB organized a Segmental Spinal Anaesthesia workshop on 18th Feb 2024 in the Main operation Theatre complex NKPSIMS & RC and LH, Nagpur.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Madhur Gupta, Professor & Head, Biochemistry & Director MET cell in presence of Dr. Anjali Bhure, Professor &  Head, Department of Anaesthesiology, NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, Nagpur, Dr. Gauri Arora, President ISA NCB (2023-24), Dr. Naresh Paliwal (Professor, PDMMC, Amravati)  Team lead, Dr. Dipali Gotey, Assistant Professor & Faculty, Dr. Minal Kokate, Assistant Professor & Faculty, Dr. Nandini Deshpande,  Assistant Professor & Faculty, Dr. Dilip Wasnik, Secretary ISA NCB(2023-24), Dr. Sumita Bhargava, Associate Professor, NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, Nagpur, Dr. Ajeet Jyotipurkar, Assistant Professor, NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, Nagpur, co-coordinator of workshop.

 Dr. Madhur Gupta in her address emphasized that this is the 5th Centre of Excellence Workshop organized by the Department of Anaesthesiology, NKPSIMS & RC, and LMH, Nagpur which was praiseworthy.

Dr. Anjali Bhure in her address pointed out the importance of this Segmental Spinal Anaesthesia technique and that this is going to be a big help to all the Anaesthesiologists attending the workshop considering patients’ safety.

Dr. Naresh Paliwal said that this technique cannot replace the usual Subarachnoid Block on Epidural Anaesthesia technique but can be used in specific high-risk cases.

A Live Workshop demonstrating various anesthesia techniques was conducted by the faculties in the Main operation theatre complex, which was relayed to the Inspire Hall for the delegates. A total of 5 cases were conducted under Segmental Spinal Anaesthesia (Lap cholecystectomy, ventral hernia repair, TLH STSG, and orchidectomy. The surgeons were very satisfied with the surgical field and anesthesia.

In the afternoon video, video-based sessions and case discussions were conducted by the esteemed faculties. The MOCs workshop Dr. Poonam Raipurkar, and Dr. Tapasya Dhwande conducted the proceedings efficiently. Around 106 delegates witnessed the live workshop.  The workshop ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Dilip Wasnik, Secretary of ISA NCB.
