25th Late Dr. Leela Dube oration

Nagpur, 10th March 2024

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences &Research Centre and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital Hingna Nagpur in association with Nagpur Obstetrics and Gynecological society had organized “ 25th late Dr. Leela Dube oration and Late Dr. Leela dube Memorial postgraduate intercollegiate quiz on urogynecology’’  on 10thMarch 2024.

Late Dr. Leela Dube was an eminent gynecologist, a great  medical teacher with charismatic personality who was instrumental in inculcating in her students, the culture of uncompromising personalized patient care. Since last 25 years her oration becomes a means to reminisce her journey and  propagate her values in   budding gynecologists from all medical colleges. 

Dr. Anuja Bhalerao Head of Department OBGY NKPSIMS and Dr. Sushma Deshmukh President NOGS welcomed the gathering. Tributes to  Dr. Leela Dube were paid by all dignitaries with flowers, lamp and beautiful words said by Dr. Alka Patankar in her fond memory. Dr. Gopal Dube and Dr. Lata Iyer, Late Dr. Leela Dubes family members were present in the ceremony.

Dr. Ashish Deshmukh, Working Chairman, Vidya Shikshan Prasarak Mandal was chief guest for the program. He remembered the contribution of Dr. Leela Dube and Dr. Gopal Dube in establishing Lata Mangeshkar Hospital.

Dr. Aparna Hegde, an internationally renowned Urogynecologist from Mumbai trained at Stanford university and Cleveland clinic Florida was the speaker for oration. She gave an excellent oration on ”Management of stress urinary incontinence” which is a common disorder effecting the quality of life in women.

Dr. Nitin Deosthale , Medical superintendent and Vice dean (clinical) , Guest of Honor for the event emphasized on conducting operative workshops in her memory for benefit of patients. He  urged all gynecologists of Nagpur to refer the needy patients to Lata Mangeshkar hospital and utilize best healthcare  facilities at nominal charges.

Dr. Sushma Deshmukh and Dr. Pragati Khalatkar, Honorary secretary NOGS felicitated the conveners of “PG star series”, an online postgraduate teaching program which was conducted fortnightly since last one year. Dr. Anuja Bhalerao, Dr. Bhakti Gurjar and Dr. Prachi Dixit were felicitated for the same.

Dr. Sakshi Singh and Dr.  Disha Widhwani were bestowed Late Dr. leela dube Gold Medal for best outgoing student in OBGY from NKPSIMS.

The program was well conducted by Dr. Sheela Jain, Dr. Krutika Bhalerao and Dr. Farah Jiandani.

Teams from eight medical colleges across Vidarbha participated in Late Dr. Leela Dube  memorial postgraduate Quiz on Urogynecology. Dr. Kanchan Dwidmuthe coordinated the quiz with quiz masters Dr. Savita Somalwar, Dr. Sheela jain, Dr. Sanyukta Dawale, Dr Prajakta Junnewar and Dr. Krutika Bhalerao.

Dr. D.N Buhariwala and Dr. Kshama Kedar were the expert judges for the quiz.

Dr. Deepakshi Gupta, Dr. Shrishti Choudhary, Dr. Nidhi Shah from NKPSIMS took  the winners trophy, with Dr. Akanksha Thakre, Dr. Amruta Vernekar, Dr. Ayushi Gupta from IGGMC as first runners up and Dr. Shambhavi Kore, Dr. Supraja , Dr. Sayali Alaspurkar from MGIMS Sewagram as second runners up.

Dr. Prachi Dixit expressed her gratitude towards all who contributed in success of program.
