LATE SHRI ARVINDBABU MEMORIAL INTERCOLLEGIATE DEBATE COMPETITION 2021

Every year COLLEGE STUDENTS’ COUNCIL (CSC) of N. K. P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur organizes Late Shri Arvindbabu Deshmukh Memorial Intercollegiate Debate Competition. Under the able guidance of Hon. Dean Dr. Kajal Mitra, this year also the event was organized by the current team of 2021-22 with great enthusiasm and fervor on 28th September 2021 on a virtual mode due to pandemic. The topic for this year’s debate was ‘BEING A MAN IS MORE ADVANTAGEOUS THAN BEING A WOMAN’. Total 9 teams (18 participants) from different medical colleges of Vidarbha region participated for the event. The program was inaugurated by the hands of Dr. Kajal Mitra, Dean and Vice Deans Dr. Vilas Thombre and Dr. Nitin Deosthale. Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar, President CSC welcome the gathering and Mr. Shrikant Dohale talked about Late Shri Arvindbabu Deshmukh. Dean Dr. Mitra highlighted the importance of students’ participation in such activities to enhance their all-round development.

To judge the debate competition, we had renowned judges Mr. Deepak Kulkarni, Former Principal and Head Textile Technology at Government Polytechnic Nagpur and Mrs. Khushnoor Chugh, Ex-Reporter and Sub-Editor in a daily newspaper. The debate was moderated by Ms. Anusha Dewase. The results were announced by Dr. Arti Kasulkar, Chairperson College Students’ Council.

The winners were awarded with trophies, certificates and a cash prize. Formal vote of thanks was proposed by CSC General Secretary Mr. Mayank Malokar. The program concluded with the national anthem. The program was conducted by MOCs Ms. Pranjali Ghode and Ms. Ragini Sayankar.

Students of the council Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar, Mr. Shrikant Dohale, Ms Pranhita Borkar, Mr. Mayank Malokar, Mr Kartik Khurana, Mr. Yogesh Sonkukra, Mr. Pavan Jaybhaye, Mr Ayush Pawade, Ms Vaishnavi Charakha, Ms. Shreya Bhansali, Ms. Shruti Bajare, Ms. Disha Tope, Ms. Tejaswini Sharma, Mr. Ashutosh Ade, Mr Shubhchandra Nakhate, Mr. Aniket Dighe, Mr. Yashraj Deshmukh, Dr Balaji Bharate, Dr Ketan Dekate toiled day and night to make this event a great success.

The Installation Ceremony was organized by STUDENTS’ COUNCIL of N. K. P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur with great enthusiasm and ardour on 12 th November 2021 in Matoshree Hall. The ceremony was inaugurated by the hands of Chief Guest Dr. Dilip Gode, Dean DMMC, Nagpur & Guest of Honor Mr. Ajinkya Kottawar, Founder & President, Dnyan Foundation, Nagpur in the presence of Shri. Ranjeet Deshmukh, Chairman, VSPM AHE, Shri Dr. Ashish Deshmukh, Working Chairman, VSPM AHE, Dean Dr. Kajal Mitra, Vice Deans Dr. Vilas Thombre & Dr. Nitin Deosthale, Advisors Dr. Sulabha Joshi & Dr. Mohana Majumdar, and Chairperson SWA 2020- 21 Dr Aniruddha Deoke.

The gathering was welcomed by President SWA 2020-2021 Dr. Ketan Dekate. Dr. Aniruddha Deoke, highlighted the achievements of his team. A report of all the events organized and completed successfully by the team was presented by the Secretary Mr. Arvind Dandade, Sports Secretary Dr. Chaitanya Bhandekar, Ms Sayali Narkhede & Ms Khushbu Kumari. The new Council team of teachers & students was then installed by the hands of Dr. Dilip Gode
and Mr. Ajinkya Kottawar by honoring them with badges and medals which was followed by the Oath ceremony. President Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar in her acceptance speech displayed her enthusiasm and fervour to lead her team. Chairperson Dr. Arti Kasulkar in her speech set forth the plans for her team and her determination to lead them with everything she has. Dr. Kajal Mitra congratulated the ex-team and encouraged the current team to further his expectations and assured the team that they have his full support. The college newsletter-‘SPLASH’ which is headed by Dr. Kalpana Date was released by the hands of dignitaries. The students were felicitated for their research work, distinctions in examinations  achievements in the field of sports. Guest of Honour Mr. Ajinkya Kottawar shared his inspiring story with the students and explained the importance of collaboration of all the branches and the essence of the word ‘Education’. Chief Guest Dr. Dilip Gode encouraged the students to get acquainted and indulged in research work, which will only broaden their minds and perspective.

Formal vote of thanks was proposed by General Secretary Mr. Mayank Malokar. The program was concluded with the national anthem. The program was conducted by MOCs Ms. Fiza Pathan & Ms. Sugati Meshram. All the team members worked hard to make the event a grand success.

Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), one of the most common viral disease needs to be paid attention. Every year 1 st of December is celebrated as Worlds AIDS Day. On this occasion, the members of College Students’ Council along with NSS Unit, Department of Community Medicine and Department of Microbiology visited Rahi Public School on 6 th December 2021 to spread the awareness about the AIDS to the students of 9 th and 10 th standard. Dr. Shilpa Hajare briefed about AIDS.

Council members interacted with students and introduced them about the disease, its mode of transmission and preventive measures. A role play was arranged by the students to explain this effectively. Few questions were asked to the students also which they answered with great enthusiasm. Initially, a brief introduction about the disease, symptoms and diagnosis of HIV- AIDS was given by Mr. Siddhesh Koshatwar. Mr. Dipak Wagh elaborated the history of HIV and also how the virus progressed throughout the years to affect the people. He also explained how virus enter our body and infect our immune
system. Mr. Yashraj Deshmukh explained about its virology and transmission from person to person through a small act along with Mr. Vrutanshu Ambatkar and Mr. Bhushan Kharabe. He further explained that as HIV cannot be cured completely it is very important to take preventive measures to stop its spread. Knowledge about treatment of HIV was surpassed by Mr. Mahesh Chavan.

Dr. Aakansha spoke on the National AIDS Day theme 2021 given by WHO which was ‘END INEQUALITY’. She told that how HIV positive people are being neglected and treated by society and the wrong prospective of the people about it. She told students that they should not be treated in unfair manner and treated equally in society. Dr. Kalpana Date and Dr. Umesh Hassani talked on microbiology of the HIV virus and sum up all about AIDS. In this way, the
program was really very helpful to educate the youth about HIV and spread its awareness among them.

The whole program was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rakhee Tirpude Incharge of Social and Outreach Committee, Dr. Shilpa Hajare, Dr. Kalpana Date, Dr. Shushrut Fulare and Dr. Arti Kasulkar. CSC President Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar, Vice President Mr. Shrikant Dohale, Ms. Pranhita Borkar, CR 2018 Mr. Shubhchandra Nakhate, LR 2018 Ms. Shruti Bajare, Joint Secretary Ms. Vaishnavi Charkha, Joint Sports Secretary Ms. Shreya Bhansali and other council members worked hard for the success of the program.

Due to the ongoing pandemic and the upcoming university exams, the students were going through a stressful phase. To help the students get through this phase, the College Students’ Council organized an online music quiz on 27 th January 2022 on virtual platform (Google meet platform).

Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar welcomed the participants and briefed about the event. Dr. Sushil Gawande, our judge for the event and the I/C of Music Committee of CSC 2021-22 talked to the students about the current ongoing pandemic situation and how small events like these can keep everyone’s energy up and high. Ms. Pranhita Borkar, then explained the general rules of the event and wished all the participants good luck. Further on, the anchor for
the event Ms. VidhishaAraspure enthusiastically conducted the quiz. The quiz consisted of 5 rounds- 1] Visual round. 2] Identify The Singer. 3] Actor-
Actresses round. 4] Guess the Gibberish. 5] Pehechankaun round. In between the rounds, some participants who wanted to showcase their talent, did so and topped off the event with their joyous voices. Each round was unique and made by the members of council themselves. All the participants looked forward to the next rounds as the quiz progressed and everyone became quickly engrossed. A total of 72 students participated in the quiz.

The scorekeepers for the event were Mr. ShrikantDohale& Mr. Mayank Malokar. The result of the quiz was announced by our judge Dr. Sushil Gawande, who also sponsored the prizes for the quiz. The winners were:-
 1 st place- Dr. ManasiAphale [JR-3, Psychiatry]
 2 nd place- Mr. Sachin Ingle [2017 Batch]
 3 rd place- Dr. AmrutaIndurkar [JR- Psychiatry}
    Dr.AshwiniSonawane [JR-3 Pathology].

On 5 th February 2022, Saturday, College Students’ Council organized the bright festival of Saraswati Pooja at NKP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center and Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Nagpur. Saraswati Pooja is a popular festival among the students. These celebrations at campus ensure that students find a home away from home. On the auspicious day of Saraswati Pooja, the students and faculty of NKPSIMS & RC and LMH came together to seek the blessings of the Goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture. The Pooja took place by the hands of Hon’ble Dean Dr Kajal Mitra. The ritual was graced with the presence of all the students and staff. The college has celebrated the pooja with same fervor as it celebrated different festivals with. Both the faculty and students joined hands together with great zeal to make the event a memorable one, also evoking the blessing of the goddess of knowledge to have a successful academic and carrier growth.

The Pooja came to an end by serving Prasad to everyone present. Everyone who attended the pooja had a great time and received hope in these times of hardship due to the ongoing pandemic. The College Students’ Council toiled to make this event a huge success.

SPORTS

As always sports have yet another time given pleasure to all the junior as well as senior batch. The event was of great fun and enthusiasm. It was a 2-days event organized on 5 th and 6 th ofApril 2022. Outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball and indoor games like Carrom, Chess, Table tennis were organized. The event was conducted successfully under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Dehankar, Sports Incharge, Dr. Aniruddha Deoke, Member SW Board MUHS, Nashik, Dr. Sushrut Fulare, Co-Chairperson CSC, Dr. Arti Kasulkar Chairperson, CSC. Student members Yogesh Sonkukara, Sports Secretary, Pavan Jaybhaye, Joint Sports Secretary, Shreya Bhansali, Joint Sports Secretary along with the volunteers worked hard to conduct event smoothly and successfully.

 

ICE- BREAKING

College Students’ Council 2021-22 organized an “Ice-Breaking” event on 7 th April 2022  to provide a glimpse of the talent of 2020 batch. The event started with an introduction round where each and every student from 2019 and 2020 batch introduced themselves in a unique way. It was followed by a series of games which included Balloon race, Bomb in the City, Tug of war, through which all the students, irrespective of their batch participated and livened up the event. The next event was the traditional “Rose ceremony”, which set the already enthusiastic mood of the students even higher. The event ended with a ‘DJ Night’. The Chairperson of CSC Dr. Arti Kasulkar and Co-Chairperson of CSC Dr. Sushrut Fulare presided over the event. All the student members and teachers in charge along with the volunteers worked whole heartedly to make this event a huge success.

 

FRESHER’S NIGHT

The long overdue fresher’s personality event CRESCITA 2k20. for 2020 batch was finally conducted. All the students were excited to participate and enjoy. The event was held on 8 th April 2022 starting with the introduction of the theme and welcoming the judges by the MOCs for the night who were the past year’s 2019 batch Mr. Fresher, Rohit Shembekar and Ms. Fresher, Sunidhi Puri along with runners up, Krish Mishra and Riya Chirania. The first
round began with the ramp walk and their introduction which was followed by a dance performance by the 2019 batch girls and boys. The second round was talent round in which all the contestants showcased their talents in dance, singing, acting, shayari and even standup comedy brilliantly.

Next up in line for the contestants was the much awaited surprise round, which had 3 pictures  which one had to connect and make a meaningful story. It was a difficult task but they did an amazing job of thinking on the spot. There was also a segment of audience interaction, where people were called up on stage and asked rapid fire questions. Lastly we had the judges round, where they had to ask questions to the contestants on various aspects and the contestants did a great job answering all of them. The judges for the event were Dr. Devyani Thakur and Dr. Ashish Thakur, who were alumni of our college from the 1995 and 1994 batches respectively.
Winners of 2020 batch were: – Mr. Fresher Prajwal Raut. Ms. Fresher Namita Ghoshal.
Runners up of 2020 batch were: – Mr. Yash Chakkarwar. Ms. Vidhisha Araspure.

Valedictory for the sports events was also held. All the student members, teacher in charges volunteers along with the support staff played a major role in making this happen. The event Incharge who guided the students was Dr. Anne Wilkinson, Cultural Incharge CSC 2021-22.  The Chairperson CSC2021-22 Dr. Arti Kasulkar and Co-Chairperson CSC 2021-22 and Dr. Sushrut Fulare also guided throughout the event.

 

 

 

 

 

 

For the first time in NKPSIMS, a farewell party for final year residents was organized by College Students’ Council on 9 th April 2022. The event was inaugurated by the hands of Chairperson CSC 2021-22 Dr. Arti Kasulkar, and Co-Chairperson, CSC 2021-22 Dr. Sushrut Fulare, by lighting the lamp in front of idol of Goddess Saraswati.

The College Students’ Council congratulated all of the final year residents for the successful completion of their Post-Graduation. It was followed by enthusiastic participation of all the residents in the games such as ‘Antakshari’ and ‘Bomb in the City’, which came to an end with refreshments and the residents showing off their moves on the dance floor.

The College Students’ Council wished the residents “SAYONARA”, i.e. goodbye. All the student members, teacher in charges and volunteers along with the support staff played a major role in making this happen. The event was coordinated by Dr. Balaji Bharate, PG Representative CSC 2021-22. The Chairperson CSC2021-22 Dr. Arti Kasulkar and Co- Chairperson CSC 2021-22 and Dr. Sushrut Fulare also guided throughout the event.

Graduation Ceremony of 2016 batch was organized by College Students’ Council 2021-22 on 13 th April 2022. It was a heart warming event, which gave the students a chance to finally live the day of their dreams. All the graduates of 2016 batch along with their parents attended the ceremony. The MOCs Ms. Anusha Dewase and Ms. Sakshi Singh Chauhan initiated the event by welcoming the dignitaries. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Dr. Sandeep Shrivastav, Dean, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Sawangi, Wardha. The Guest of Honour was Shri Ranjeet Deshmukh, Chairman, VSPM AHE. The event was presided by Dr. Kajal Mitra, Dean NKPSIMS &RC and LMH, Nagpur. Dr Mohana Majumdar, Advisor, CSC, Dr Aniruddha Deoke, SW Board member, MUSH Nashik, Dr. Arti Kasulkar, Chairperson CSC, Dr. Sushrut Fulare, Co-Chairperson CSC, Teachers- In charge of the CSC 2021-22 Dr Anne
Wilkinson, Dr Rajesh Dehankar, Dr Rakhi Tirpude, Dr Sushil Gawande, Dr Trupti Dongre, and Dr Shilpa Hajare and Head of the Departments were present.
This was followed by lighting of “Samai” by the dignitaries. The gathering was welcomed by Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar, President CSC 2021-22. Dr. Arti Kasulkar addressed the gathering with her speech. Then the most awaited event of the Graduation Ceremony took place.

All the graduates were awarded with their Graduation certificate and medals by the dignitaries. This was followed by the Oath taking ceremony which filled a sense of duty in all the graduates. Special awards were given for “Academic Excellence” and “Outstanding Performance” to graduates who stood out from the rest. The first award for Academic excellence was given to Dr Ayushi Keoliya, second award was given to Dr Yagyani Bali and the third award was given to Dr Manasi Lahari. The awards for outstanding performance were given to Dr Aditi Modak, Dr Shubham Purohit, Dr Saurabh Padole, Dr Ketan Dekate and Dr Shreeya Balpande. Few selected graduates expressed their love and gratitude for their journey and shared their experiences in their own unique way. The event took a trip to memory lane when a video clip for the batch of 2016 was played which brought along tears of joy in everyone’s eyes. This trip down the memory lane was followed by the release of the Yearbook for 2016 batch along with the release of Reflection – Annual Bulletin of MEU, by the Dignitaries.

The ceremony was then addressed by Dr. KajalMitra who wished the students a bright and peaceful future ahead. He also emphasized the importance of discipline in students’ life. Shri Ranjeet Deshmukh congratulated all the graduates for their achievements and their parents. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sandeep Shrivastav addressed the graduates, imparting his wisdom on them and opening up new visions and paths for them to walk on.

The torch was then handed over to the next batch by the graduates to carry on their will and dreams. It was followed by vote of thanks by Mr. Mayank Malokar, General Secretary CSC 2021-22. The event came to an end with everyone reciting the National Anthem. The College Students’ Council along with the Teachers-in-Charge & the volunteers and the supporting staff worked hard to make this event a successful one.

SPORTS
College Fresher’s Party is the beginning of the new era. The fresher’s event for 2021 batch began with sports which was of great fun and enthusiasm. It was a 3-days event organized on 4 th , 5 th and 6 th of May 2022. The event was inaugurated by the hands of Hon. Dr. Kajal Mitra Sir, Dean NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, Nagpur. Sports organized were outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletic(100m) and indoor games like Carrom,
Chess, Table tennis.

The event was conducted successfully under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Dehankar, Sports Incharge, CSC, Dr. Aniruddh Deoke, Member SW Board MUHS, Nashik, Dr. Sushrut Fulare Co-chairperson CSC, Dr. Arti Kasulkar, Chairperson CSC. Student members Yogesh Sonkukara, Sports Secretary, Pavan Jaybhaye, Joint Sports Secretary, Shreya Bhansali, Joint Sports Secretary along with the volunteers worked hard to conduct event smoothly and
successfully.

ICE-BREAKING

The 2021 batch of NKPSIMS & RC and LMH, just stepped into the 1 st year of their collegelife. Along with their academics, what they needed was a chance, an opportunity to get toknow their batch mates along with their seniors and all about the cultural aspects of the college. To make their wish come true, the College Students’ Council 2021-22 organized an “Ice-Breaking” event on 7 th May 2022.

The event started with an introduction round where each and every student from 2020 and 2021 batch introduced themselves in a unique way. It was followed by a series of games which included, “W kaha hai?”, “Task Race”, “Paper Dance”, “Three-Legged Race”, “Bomb in the City” through which all the students, irrespective of their batch participated in full and livened up the event. The next event in order was the traditional “Rose ceremony”, which set the already enthusiastic mood of the students even higher. The event ended with a ‘DJ Night’ leaving everyone present there filled with joy and content to the brim.

The Chairperson of CSC, Dr. Arti Kasulkar and the Co-Chairperson of CSC, Dr. Sushrut Fulare presided over the event. The student-in charges for the event, Ms. Vaishnavi Charkha, Mr. Shrikant Dohale and Ms. Tejaswini Sharma, along with the team, Ms. Sanskruti Dorikar, Mr. Mayank Malokar, Ms. Pranhita Borkar, Ms. Shruti Bajare, Ms. Disha Tope, Ms. Gauri Kela, s Mr. Ashutosh Ade, Mr. Shubhchandra Nakhate, Mr.Yashraj Deshmukh, Mr. Yuvraj Morke, worked hard to make this event a huge success.

FRESHER’S NIGHT

The most awaited event BELLAGIO – The Fresher’s Night for the newly admitted 2021 MBBS batch of 200 students finally took place. All the students were ready to participate and enjoy this grand ceremony. The theme for the event was “Casino”. The event was organized on 8 th May 2022. The event started with the introduction of the theme and welcoming of the judges by the MOCs. MOCs for the night were the 2020 batch’s Mr. Fresher- Prajwal Raut
and Ms. Fresher- Namita Ghoshal along with the Runners up, Mr. Yash Chakkarwar and Ms. Vidhisha Araspure. The Judges for the event were Dr. Vikram Alsi and Dr. Pallavi Alsi. The first in the series of the event was The Ramp Walk by the participants of 2021 batch. The participants radiating confidence, showed off their dance moves along with their partners. Each and every one of them introduced themselves in a unique and defining way. It was
followed by an enthusiastic group dance by the girls from 2021 along with a zestful dance performance by boys from 2021 batch, followed by a group song by girls and boys from 2021 batch.

The second round was the Talent Round through which the participants displayed their immense flair and left the audience along with the judges in awe. This round was followed by a group dance by 2020 and 2021 batches. Third round was the Secret round which had 2 pictures on a screen and the participants had to choose one, speak for it and then cross each other with their wits. It was a difficult task but they did an amazing job of thinking on the
spot. This round was immediately followed by the Judges round where in the participants were called on stage and asked questions by the judges to test their aptitude. Last but not the least was the final group performance by 2020 batch, a soulful song and a dynamic dance. In the end there was valedictory for the Sports event along with the result for the Fresher’s personality contest. The winners for the 2021

The student in charges Mr. Shrikant Dohale and Ms. Tejaswini Sharma along with the council members Ms. Sanskruti Dorlikar, Ms. Pranhita Borkar, Mr. Mayank Malokar, Ms. Vaishnavi Charkha , Mr. Yogesh Sonkukara, Mr. Pavan Jaybhaye, Ms. Shreya Bhansali, Ms. Shruti Bajare, Ms. Dista Tope, Ms. Gauri Kela, Mr. Ashutosh Ade, Mr. Shubhchandra Nakhate, Mr. Aniket Dighe, Mr. Yashraj Deshmukh, Mr. Yuvraj Morke and the teachers in charge Dr. Anne Wilkinson, Dr. Arti Kasulkar, Dr. Sushrut Fulare and volunteers along with the support staff played a major role in making the event a success. It was a wonderful event with people actively participating in it. Such moments stay with us for years, cherishing them as we move forward in our life.
