The 31st Eye donation fortnight was celebrated from 25th Aug to 8th Sept 2016 at Lata Mangeshkar Eye Bank,N KP Salve Institute of Medical Sciences, Digdoh Hills, Hingna , Nagpur. The concluding ceremony was organized on 7th Sep, 2016 at in Eye department, OPD block of LMH ,Hingna.
The Dean of the Institute Dr Kajal Mitra was the Chief guest for the occasion while Dr Thombre, Vice–Dean and Dr Ajay Kulkarni, visiting cornea consultant were the guest of honour. On this occasion, Dr Kajal Mitra gave inaugural speech after lighting the traditional samai. He highlighted the importance of eye donation awareness and thanked all the donor families who were present on the occasion.
The annual program of felicitating donor families by giving a certificate of appreciation and memento was carried out under the able guidance of Dr Rekha Khandelwal, Prof & Head of the department of Ophthalmology.
Dr Archana Nikose spoke about various awareness programs which were conducted by the department during the fortnight celebrations . An eye donation awareness talk was organized at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Katol RHTC, Wadi PHC and Saoner RHTC. A mega camp was conducted at Kalmeshwar where screening for eye diseases was carried out and Dr Onkar Chauhan gave a public awareness talk on eye donation.
Dr Ajay Kulkarni and Shri Rajendra Chauragade, Eye Bank Technician were honoured for their efforts towards the betterment of the Lata Mangeshkar Eye Bank. Dr Pradnya Laddha, Dr Rhutuja Deo and Dr Deepa Kumar worked hard for the success of programme.
